Do you want to acheive HEALTHY HAPPY HAIR?

Yes, we all want full, volumous flowing tresses!  The best way to acheive healthy tresses starts with cleansing the scalp/hair, conditioning, mositurizing and protecting the hair against excessive heat!  Use the steps below as a guide to creating and maintaining healthy tresses. Then purchase cleansers, conditioners, moisturizers, botanical oil scalp treatments and styling and finishing products in SHOP for the best products for you hair type & texture.

Cleansing is a Must!

1.  Like the body which is made from skin, the scalp is part of the skin's organ.  It's imperative to cleanse the scalp at least once per week or if you are active at least
2 x per week.  Taking into consideration your hair type -- normal, oily or dry, you should choose a shampoo that is suitable for cleansing and hydrating; volumizing, moisturizing or replenishing.

2.  For those using curly enhancing creams and layering products.  Do not shampoo daily.  To refresh curls spritz a liquid leave-in or herbal rinse spray to refresh curls.  Rinse hair once or twice per week with water, cleanse with a low-lather sulfate condition cleansing cream in-between your weekly shampoo & conditioning treatments.  Then reapply your enhancing products for a fresh curl.

3.  Always treat the hair and the scalp as separate conditions.
If you are experiencing dry or oily scalp treat with dandruff shampoos with zinc or tea tree, then follow up with a shampoo formulated to hydrate the hair as dandruff shampoos can tend to leave the hair dry.  A great shampoo for at home follow-up that contains zinc, treats the scalp but conditions the hair is MIZANI Scalp Care shampoo & consitioner

3a. For best results exfoliate the dead skin from the scalp. Use a pre-treatment oil like, Jane Carter Solution's Scalp Renew before cleansing once per month. This oil removes dead skin build-up and toxins from the scalp, while depositing anti-bacterial oils to replenish. Massaging helps to circulate the blood's nutrients to the follicles which in turn contributes to your natural sebum flow.

And serious scalp conditions should be seen by a dermatologist for prescriptive shampoos and medication.

Conditioners Are Your Friends!

1.  H2O is a natural chemical that can leave mineral deposits and dry out your hair.  So Leave-in Conditioners are great to soften, detangle and create a buffer /protection against thermal heat and curly enhancing products that also create hold.

2.  Pamper your hair weekly with a deep moisturizing, hydrating or nourishing conditioning treatment.  Your tresses take a beaten every week from, products, tools and daily forces of the environment.

3.  If your hair is shedding, dry and brittle, use a balance of replenishing and restoring conditioning treatments (protein/moisture) every other week and follow up with a nourishing conditioner on the other weeks.  Remember if you use a protein mask for extreme breakage it fortifies and strengthens the hair strands, so make sure to follow up with a moisturizing conditioner after to soften the hair.  You don't want to break from too much protein!

FINISHING IT OFF

1.  Never apply petroleum, mineral oil, bees wax or lanolin to the hair or scalp.  These products weigh down the hair, cause build-up and attract unnecessary debris from the environment.

2.  To avoid excessive abuse and multiple heat on the hair, air dry before blow drying.  Wrap or sit under a hooded dryer before ceramic ironing.  And for relaxed hair----roller set to restore fullness and bounce without direct heat.  Then brush hair in circular motions to release roller parts and then ceramic iron the roots or entire head for a straighter look.  Never over abuse the hair at the base of the scalp by using excessive blow-drying with a fine tooth comb.  This is the most fragile and where the hair grows out of the scalp.   Always use low heat with little air pressure if you must!!! For wavy, curly hair round brushing after roller-setting is doable.

3.  Purchase ceramic and tourmaline styling tools.  They are the latest technology and give the best protection against over abuse of styling.
Always use a thermal protective spray or serum before ceramic ironing or curling.
